Connections

  1. Unable to create your private key and certificate
  2. WallCooler encrypts all data to securely send data over the public Internet using the industry security standard: SSL 128-bit private/public key pair asynchron encryption.

During installation, WallCooler creates a user specific private key and keystore (a keystore is a password protected file where the private key and other certificates are stored on your computer). You cannot use WallCooler without the keystore.

    Message Description
WallCooler is unable to create a keystore to hold you private key and certificate used to encrypt the data across the internet.
    Cause
You probably do not have enough rights, or the drive where wallcooler is installed is full.
    Solution

Check there is enough disk space left on the drive where your are installing WallCooler (the installation requires about 100MB).

Administration privelges are also required to install (but not to run) WallCooler. If you do not have Administrator rights, you can ask your IT support to install WallCooler.

  3. Unable to authenticate user (login)
  4. After installing WallCooler for the first time on your computer, you need to create your Vedivi Account and Online Login. WallCooler server uses your login to connect the computers, running WallCooler, to one anohter.

You can set WallCooler to automatically sign you in or manually connect by typing your password every time WallCooler is disconnected or your computer is restarted.

    Message Description
Could not log you in, check username and password.
    Cause
Your login and/or password do not match those stored on your Vedivi account.
    Solution

Check that you correctly entered your login and password (passwords are case sensitive) and try again.

If your password recently changed (either by you or following a 'I forgot my password' reset) you must sign out from all the running WallCoolers and sign back in using the new password.

  9. The server was unable to process the request (HTTP error code)
  10. All WallCoolers connect to Vedivi servers in order to properly connect to each other.

WallCoolers connect to Vedivi servers via the public Internet using the HTTPS protocol (Hyper Text Transport Procol over Secure socket layers).

    Message Description
The Vedivi servers could not properly process a WallCooler request. If you see this error several times, you should update your WallCooler to the latest available version.
    Cause

WallCooler is not able to 'talk' to the Vedivi servers anymore. The reason may be:

    • a momentary outage of the Internet
    • the Vedivi servers not supporting the WallCooler version you are running
    • you are connecting via a proxy server and it cannot properly connect to the Internet (maintenance work or heavy traffic)
    Solution

WallCooler should automatically recover in few minutes if the problem was linked to the network or Internet connection.

If your WallCoolers keep losing connectivity to the Vedivi Servers or to one another, you should check for the latest WallCooler version available and donwload and install it. You can check if a newer version is available by going to 'Help->Check For Update' in your current WallCooler application.

  11. Cannot reach server (server:port)
  12. All WallCoolers connect to Vedivi servers, using the public Internet, in order to properly connect to each other.

    Message Description
WallCooler cannot contact the Vedivi servers.
    Cause
WallCooler is not able to find any available Vedivi server. The problem is either coming from a momentary outage of the network/Internet or Vedivi servers are somehow unavailable.
    Solution

WallCooler should automatically recover in few minutes if the problem was linked to the network or Internet connection.

You can also force a reconnection attempt by signing out and back in. If the problem persist, you should check the Internet connection on the computer running WallCooler.

For example, open a browser application (such as Internet Explorer or FireFox) and try any website that you haven't visited recently (to avoid any caching on your browser).

If you are using a proxy server to connect to the Internet, you browser might be configured to automatically detect the proxy's settings whereas you need to manually provide this information to WallCooler. Check the proxy settings in WallCooler in Settings->General and provide the required values depending on the type of proxy server you use (you might need to ask you local IT team to provide with the correct values).

You can check that you can access the Internet from WallCooler by going to Settings->General and clicking on 'Test Connection'.

  13. Cannot reach proxy (server:port)
  14. All WallCoolers connect to Vedivi servers, using the public Internet, in order to properly connect to each other.

    Message Description
The proxy configured cannot be contacted, it might be temporarily unavailable.
If you see this error several times, you might want to check your proxy configuration (Settings...->General)
    Cause
WallCooler cannot connect the proxy server using the values (hostname and port) set in the Settings->General Tab. Either the problem is due to a temporary network outage or the proxy server hostname and port are not valid.
    Solution

If the problem is linked to a network outage, WallCooler will automatically recover few minutes after the network is back up and running.

The problem can also be related to the proxy server - Check that the proxy server is not down or undergoing maintenance work and that you can still access the proxy server using the same hostname and port provided in the Settings->General Tab.

To change the proxy settings, you first need to sign out.

You can check that you can access the Internet from WallCooler by going to Settings->General and clicking on 'Test Connection'.

  5. Identical network on both sides, your computers are probably on the same network
  6. WallCooler routes network traffic between two networks. Local network traffic(packets to and from the local subnet) is excluded. WallCooler cannot route network traffic between two identical subnets.

    Message Description
WallCooler will abort the connection, because both computers are on an identical network.
It can happen in two cases:
    1) Both computers are on the same network, so you can directly access the remote computer.
    2) Both computers are on different network, but share the same addressing (address/subnet).
(WallCooler will not connect unless you modify one of the network addressing.)
    Cause
WallCooler route the network traffic between two network. WallCooler will not open any connection if you are trying to connect two computers that are already part of the same network or of identical IP addresses range.
    Solution

Most probably, both of the computers, WallCooler is running on, are plugged on the same network and there is nothing you need to do.

For example, if you install WallCooler on your office PC and on your laptop, your WallCoolers will not connect to one another when you plug you laptop in the office but will automatically resume connections where you are away with your laptop.

On the other hand, WallCooler will not function either if your local network has the same IP addresses and subnet as those of your remote network.

For example, if your home and office networks are configured with the following private network range:

    - IP addresses: 192.168.0.XXX (where XXX is any number between 1 and 254)
    - Network mask: 255.255.255.0

To use WallCooler, you will have to change one of the networks' settings. For example, you can set the follwing private range at home:

    - IP addresses: 192.168.10.XXX (where XXX is any number between 1 and 254)
    - Network mask: 255.255.255.0

  8. WallCooler handle the network traffic between your computer and network on the one hand and the remote computer and network on the other. A connection with the same login and bridge Id (default setting in WallCooler) is called a bridge.

To route the traffic between both networks, WallCooler will directly connect to the computers' network cards and act as a network driver.

    Message Description

WallCooler could not properly start, probably because the network card on the remote computer is not supported.

    Cause

WallCooler was unable to detect, on the remote computer, a valid network card it can work with.

    Solution

Your local WallCooler is properly functioning and the problem is only with the remote computer's network card.

Check the error messages on your remote WallCooler. (The remote error shall be No Valid Network Adapter detected)

  11. Unable to assign an IP address for the remote Computer
  12. WallCooler assigns an IP address for the remote computer on the local network. This is automatically done using DHCP or finding unused IP addresses.

    Message Description

WallCooler was unable to automatically assign an IP Address for the remote computer.
WallCooler has tried using DHCP, but could not contact any DHCP server on the network.

It also tried to assign an unused address on the network. You need to manually assign a static IP address on the Bridge.

    Cause
WallCooler did not find a valid DHCP server and there are no unused IP address on your subnet.
    Solution

You need to manually assign a static IP address (from another subnet) to your bridge.

  13. IP Address collision, (IP Address) detected on another computer on the network
  14. WallCooler assigns an IP address for the remote computer on the local network. This is automatically done using DHCP or finding unused IP addresses.

However, if WallCooler detects that the previously assigned address is now used it gives priority to the local network and reassgins a new IP address for the remote network.

    Message Description

The IP Address WallCooler assigned to the remote computer has been detected on the network.
Another computer has been plugged on the network and uses the address currently held by WallCooler.
WallCooler needs to restart the connection and assign a new address.

    Cause

Most probably, a computer setup with a static IP address (identical to the one WallCooler uses) has been plugged on the network.

    Solution

This is an information message and WallCooler will assign a new address.

No user action is required. WallCooler will automatically recover.
